To accomplish the task of creating a seasoned look for this home, the designer worked closely with the architect and builder from the onset of the project. Also, a big advantage was that the designer and her staff had previously worked for the client on another home, which helped them to understand the client’s specific tastes and lifestyle. This enabled the designer to tailor each room with a personal touch that perfectly reflected the homeowners’ personality and penchant for the Key West look. This prior experience made it easy to select interior decor, which translated into greater customer satisfaction.

A palate of sages and golds were chosen in order to give the home a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Floors were a combination of Paraguay wood and saturnia to help provide an authentic Key West look.

In the family room (top), leather chairs, knotty pine cabinetry, and a chenille sofa give the room a comfortable, yet stylish appearance. Bamboo rods and rings with striped sheer light-green drapery and reeded shade complete the room’s island motif. To ensure that the Key West look remains unadulterated, the entertainment center was constructed with jalousie-style cabinet doors.

In the master bedroom (upper left), a wrought iron headboard, crown molding in the ceiling coffers and a softly patterned carpet all work synergistically to create an ambiance of casual elegance. An overstuffed chaise upholstered in chenille offers comfortable seating, while on the window, sheer draperies continue to provide an open airy look.

The soft green tones of the dining room (left) make it a pleasant and relaxing place to entertain and come home to. The dining room (above) features wood flooring, which surrounds the perimeter of the room with saturnia in the center of the floor. The crystal chandelier, upholstered chairs, lace draperies with brass rods and crystal finials help give the dining room a finished and refined look. The home is an eclectic study of periods and styles that create a warm, personal touch, satisfying the need for casualness.
